Badminton News: Shi Yuqi wins men's singles title at Australian Open
China's Shi Yuqi won the men's singles title at the 2022 Australian Badminton Open on Sunday. Shi Yuqi defeated compatriot Lu Guangzhou 2-1 in the final
In a 69-minute duel with Lu, Shi Yuqi secured the first set 21-19 after rallying from a 19-15 deficit to win six straight points. After losing the second set 21-18, Shi Yuqi defeated Lu 21-5 in the deciding set to secure the title.
"I was a little bit exhausted at the first two sets and not fully recovered from the semifinal. In the tiebreaker, I felt that my physical strength was built up again and I was able to move faster," Shi Yuqi said.

"This is a reward for our hard work. But we also found our deficiencies during the tournament, which we still need to make up for through further games and training," Zheng Shuxian told Xinhua.

In the mixed doubles, the fourth-seeded pair of Seo Seung-Jae/Chae Yu-Jung from South Korea defeated their compatriots Kim Won-ho/Jeong Na-eun 21:9, 21:17 and secured the title.
