Badminton News: List of nominees for 2022 BWF Player of the Year Awards revealed, five Indian shuttlers shortlisted
The Badminton World Federation has revealed the nominees for the 2022 BWF Player of the Year Awards, and five Indian shuttlers, including HS Prannoy, have been included among the shortlisted nominees for the awards.
The awards ceremony for the 2022 BWF Player of the Year Awards will be held on December 5, ahead of the BWF World Tour Finals and the gala dinner.
BWF Player of the Year Awards recognized the achievement of the world's elite badminton and para-badminton players. The nominees are selected based on their performances during the 2021/22 season from November 1, 2021, to October 31, 2022.
HS Prannoy has been nominated for the 'Most Improved Player of the Year award alongside Jeong Na Eun and Kim Hye Jeon of Korea and Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia.
The other four nominees from India are all World Para-Badminton Champions, gold medallists Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramadass, alongside bronze medallists Manasi Joshi and Nithya Sre Sumathy.
The world's best player, Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, 2021 World Champion Loh Kean Yew and Lee Zii Jia were nominated for the Male Player of the Year award.
In the Women's Player of the Year category, The world number two An Se Young, world number four Tai Tzu Ying and world champion Akane Yamaguchi were nominated for the award.
