Perodua Malaysia Masters News 2022: PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy seek momentum
Indian shuttler PV Sindhu is eager to improve her consistency with the Commonwealth Games nearby. At the same time, HS Prannoy looks forward to ending his five-year-long title drought as they spearhead the Indian bid at the upcoming Super 500 tournament, set to take place in Kaula Lumpur
PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy were both knocked out in the quarterfinals of Malaysia Open Super 750 last week. Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has been consistently advancing to the quarterfinals and semifinal rounds of the tour-level events. Still, she has failed to break past the top players. However, she has managed to clinch two Super 300 trophies this season at Syed Modi International and the Swiss Open.
Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei, Ratchanok Inthanon of Thailand, An Se Young of Korea and Chen Yu Fei of China have defeated PV Sindhu at crucial stages in various tour-level events of the season to expose her weaknesses.
PV Sindhu will try to fine-tune her strategy and fix her shortcomings as she faces He Bing Jiao in the opening round of Perodua Malaysia Masters 2022. The 25-year-old Chinese shuttler defeated PV Sindhu last month at the Indonesia Open Super 1000. She has a win-loss ratio of 10-8 against the Indian shuttler despite losing at three of their previous four meetings, including the 2020 Summer Olympics.
HS Pranoy has made a mark on the court in almost every tournament since advancing to the quarterfinals at the world championship last year. HS Prannoy proved that he has the determination, consistency, and skill to be a champion. However, he will have to raise his level when needed against the top talent to seize a title finish, eluding him for over five years.
The Zheng Si Wei /Huang Ya show rolls on
Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya clinched and won their fifth consecutive mixed doubles title at the 2022 PETRONAS Malaysia Open since reuniting after they started the season with different partners.
Zheng Si Wei and Huang Ya have harnessed their talent to dominate the court in their last three championships. They have won 26 HSBC BWF World Tour titles and lost only two games in their previous three championships. The Chinese duo has drastically improved their performances since losing to compatriots Wang Yi Lyu and Huang Dong Ping at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
After their victory at the Malaysia Open, Zheng Si Wei said, “Our Olympic defeat had a significant impact on us. We were upset by it, but it also strengthened our resolve and taught us to be more stable in our thoughts. We want to concentrate on playing exceptionally well each time; winning trophies is just a result.
